Kristin Drysdale x Biches & Bûches

We are delighted to present Else Pullover designed by Kristin Drysdale – Scandiwork, with Biches & Bûches Le Lambswool, that Kristin curated at the beautiful Wool & Yarn shop Handwork SLC in Utah 🐚

“In our home, my husband painted the center panels of our doors with floral motifs. It brings such joy to see the snow through the windows while having a touch of spring indoors. He learned this gesture from my dear friend Randi Bjorge, who was a national folk artist in Norway before immigrating to the United States.

She taught us that in Norway, rooms were often painted with colorful murals to help lift spirits during the long, dark winters. The design of Else is inspired by these traditional Rosmaling paintings, with their flowers, scrolls, and flowing S- and C-shaped strokes.”

Details

Construction
'Else is a traditional sweater, knitted from the bottom up with a circular yoke. I love this efficient yet elegant way of constructing a sweater. You begin with the body, then quickly knit the sleeves. As soon as a sleeve is finished, it is joined to the body. After a few rounds, the most joyful part begins: the floral motif. I like to keep this step for last — like dessert. I used the same needle size for the stockinette body and for the colorwork yoke. I hope that when you wear this sweater on the coldest days, it will remind you of the promise of spring.' — Kristin Drysdale
