A few words from Noriko

I live near the sea with my husband and daughter and always think about knitting. The art of knitting was handed down to me by my grandmother, who lived at home with us. After university, I ran an indie bookstore and contributed to magazines and books, I rediscovered my passion for knitting, fueled by the arrival of my daughter. Since then, I've been entranced by the enchanting realm of yarn and needles. I want to design clothes that are standard but have a subtle uniqueness.

Noriko writes about Le Petit Lambswool

The myriad of beautiful and gentle colors of Le Petit Lambswool has truly captivated me. The texture, offering a connection to nature, and its delightful softness after a wet blocking are details I hold dear. These elements played a pivotal role in inspiring my latest creations, the Amikomi Yoke Sweater & Cardigan.

This is a top-down, oversized, circular yoke cardigan. “Amikomi” is a Japanese word meaning “stranded knitting”. It combines vintage charm with a modern silhouette with a roomy body and sleeves and a short body.
It is worked in the round from the neck rib with a double knitting border around it, then the yoke is worked down to the underarms. For a visual appeal, several sets of short rows are added between the colorwork pattern to make the back higher. After the sleeves are separated, the body is worked in round to the ribbed hem. The sleeves are also knit in the round. Finally, after the center of the front steek is reinforced with crochet, then cut open, stitches are picked up and knit for the button bands. Typically, inconspicuous yarn is used for the crochet reinforcement, but deliberately using a contrasting color could give a lovely result. We prepared a detailed explanation as well as a video on “How to reinforce the steeking with a crochet hook”. Links to the techniques used are also provided.
This pattern provides two versions of the colorwork: Multicolor and Monochrome. Please enjoy choosing colors!
