Le Gros Lambswool is part of our little woolen family of Le Petit Lambswool, Le Lambswool, Le Gros Lambswool. The three are the same wool, just of different thread sizes, for different projects! Le Gros Lambswool is a beautiful wool & prepared with the special Scottish traditional & savoir faire, spun and dyed in a family-owned fiber mill in Scotland with long term savoir faire and expertise. Its composition is of 100% Lambswool, the first shearing of the sheep, an absolutely beautiful quality. It is completely natural with its rustic charm all the while being very soft to knit with and wear. It has also been scoured and steam damped, so no traces of spinning oil and added loftiness.

Classified as an Aran weight, it is woollen spun, giving it a lofty, airy texture and natural warmth. It has a soft and authentic expression. Le Gros Lambswool is perfect for sweaters, cardigans, and accessories.

The ball bands are designed by Caroline at the Atelier and printed in the surroundings of our partner taking a lot of care of the part of the process where the wool becomes small yarn balls, and each label manually added to each yarn ball. We love a crafted and handmade look, which always leave small traces of imperfections, which for us, are part of the charm of natural wool and of Biches & Bûches.

About the Story
When Astrid decided to create a knitting-kit shop, she set out to find a special yarn for her designs and to offer in her boutique. She was looking for a yarn with an authentic feel — slightly rustic — that would remind her of her trip to Norway in 1995, where she discovered the pure wool from Norwegian sheep. Something that echoed her Scandinavian roots: a yarn that could become fine, colourful sweaters that would stand the test of time, worn year after year. This yarn also needed to feel soft, delightful to knit with, and comfortable for everyday wear. It was in a family-owned mill in Scotland that she found the possibility to create the yarn that would become the signature of Biches & Bûches: Le Petit Lambswool. Today, we offer two additional thicknesses of this yarn: Le Lambswool and Le Gros Lambswool. A pure lambswool, sublime with its rustic charm, while being wonderfully soft and presented in beautifully natural colours.
