Noriko Ichikawa x Biches & Bûches

We are delighted to present the stunning Amikomi Yoke Sweater designed by Noriko Ichikawa, both in its Monochrome Edition with three colors in Le Petit Lambswool, and its Multicolor Edition with five colors in Le Petit Lambswool 🐚

'This is a top-down, oversized, circular yoke sweater. “Amikomi” is a Japanese word meaning “stranded knitting”. It offers a relaxed and cozy fit in both the sleeves and the body. You can adjust the body and sleeves lengths as you like, but note that this will affect the required amount of yarn.' Noriko Ichikawa

About Noriko Ichikawa and what she writes about Le Petit Lambswool

'I live by the sea with my husband and daughter, and knitting is always on my mind. The art of knitting was passed down to me by my grandmother, who lived with us. After university, I ran an independent bookshop and worked regularly with magazines and on books, while gradually rediscovering my passion for knitting, rekindled by the arrival of my daughter. Since then, I have been fascinated by the enchanting world of yarn and needles. I want to create wardrobe classics with a subtle twist.

I was truly captivated by the myriad of beautiful, soft colours of Le Petit Lambswool. Its texture, which feels connected to nature, and its delightful softness after wet blocking are details that matter deeply to me. They played an essential role in inspiring my latest designs, the Amikomi Yoke Cardigan & Pullover.'

The Pattern
  • The Pattern is sold separately on Noriko Ichikawa's Ravelry page
  • The Pattern is available in English
  • The pattern includes two versions charts: Multicolor and Monochrome.
Differences from my “Amikomi Yoke Cardigan” pattern: On this sweater, all rows of the yoke start at the back of the left sleeve where the jog is least noticeable. Therefore, the short sections are different from the cardigan. The sizes are also different.

Details

Construction
It is worked in the round starting from the ribbed neck, with a double knitting border worked around it, then the yoke is worked down to the underarms. For a visual appeal, several sets of short rows are added between the colorwork pattern to make the back higher. After the sleeves are separated, the body is worked in round to the ribbed hem. The sleeves are also knit in the round.
