Ashley tells about the background for this gorgeous design :
“I grew up with the Olympic National Forest as my backyard, later moving to Northern California where we spent many of our weekends escaping the city for lush rolling hills and redwoods. Now I make my home in the forests of Idaho, surrounded by cedar, larch, birch, alder, and a variety of pines. Since I was a young child, the most fascinating discovery about trees were their growth rings and the stories they tell, much of them remaining a secret until the trees life has ended and a new incarnation has begun. From the moment we chose the theme for this issue, the idea for this simple yet expansive shawl emerged, representing the growth rings of not only trees, but also the growth in our own lives.”

the wool : it is the biches & bûches le petit lambswool, a natural and 100% lambswool from scotland. Ashley knit the shawl with needle size US 5 [3.75/4 mm] - which you can find in our tool shop !

gauge : 22 sts and 32 rounds = 4" [10 cm] in stockinette stitch worked in the round.
